Preparation and Characterization of a Nano-Inclusion Complex of Quercetin with β-Cyclodextrin and Its Potential Activity on Cancer Cells

Quercetin (QRC), a flavonoid found in foods and plants such as red wine, onions, green tea, apples, berries, possesses remarkable anti-inflammatory antioxidant properties. These properties make it effective combating cancer cells, reducing inflammation, protecting against heart disease, regulating blood sugar levels. To enhance the potential of inclusion complexes (ICs) containing β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) therapy, they were transformed into nano-inclusion (NICs). In this research, NICs synthesized using ethanol agent nanoprecipitation process. By employing FT-IR analysis, was observed that hydrogen bonds formed between QRC β-CD. Moreover, IC molecules through aggregation facilitated by intermolecular bonds. Proton NMR results further confirmed occurrence proton shielding deshielding subsequent to formation NICs. The introduction β-CDs led development distinctive feather-like structure within particle sizes consistently measured around 200 nm, both SAED XRD patterns indicated absence crystalline NICs, providing supporting evidence. Through cytotoxicity fluorescence-assisted cell-sorting showed no significant damage cell line MCF-7. comparison alone, presence high concentrations exhibited lesser degree toxicity normal human lung fibroblast MRC-5 cells. individual combined administration low effectively suppressed growth cells (MDA-MB-231). solubility improvement resulting from QRC-NICs with β-CD enhanced percentage survival for MCF-7 types.
